Images & Icons
In my opinion a great training or piece of instructional material is beautifully designed both in the logistics and when possible has appealing visual design.
I try hard to design all my audio/ visual learning objects to be alluring while also being fun and simple. This prevents visual noise making it easier for participants to engage with the content.
I have had the unusual circumstance with many projects I have taken on to have a very limited budget and or be designing on a obscure topic. These constraints have often necessitated me to create custom images, icons, or logos to support the training materials instead of purchasing stock images. Below are a few highlights of these images.
Lego Characters
I was setting up a training platform and needed images that represented each role that worked at the company. The trick was- I needed these images in the middle of the pandemic and was not able to do an in-person photo shoot to get the images I needed. So I got creative…
I ‘hosted’ a mini-Lego photo shoot from my house, Using Lego’s, clay, bits of food and aluminum foil to create scenes.
This image is representing a cook working in the food production facility the training was for.
A Sandwich
A hand drawn Tofu Ban Mi sandwich. This was part of an series of illustrated images I created for a training video about food production.
The illustrations I made had to match a simple look and feel of other stock images within the video software.
Personal Logo
This is a hand drawn logo representing my name Rudi Romaine.
I have always been told “you have a great name, with that kind of name you should be famous.” Who knows if I will ever be famous, but my name does lend well to design a custom personal logo.
An inspiration my parents had for my first name was the print artist Rudy Pozzatti, but they also thought it would be funny if my nickname had a vegetable origin since my last name is a vegetable. Hence- Rutabaga.
